I actually went to this and it was very entertaining if you had your expectations in check. A huge amount of people were leaving by lap 4 though so they have a long way to go before this becomes viable as a spectator sport and with the current generation of F1 fans being entirely fueled by Drive to Survive I doubt this has any potential to take off. That being said, I look forward to attending next year and seeing the progress, it will never be F1 but it is still very cool in it's own way.

They should have had an AI-audience aswell with an AI-live-chatroom

i mean, i have nothing against ai and all that, but, this is just a waste of good cars (i know those are retired superformulas), they would be better in the hands of some rich gentlemen with a big ego trying to get the best lap of some random circuit for someone else to enjoy the view

I like it alot.But online because it was a Science Experiment mask as a race car show. It was incredible polite and boring, but this was only the beginning. I wil get better and better very quickly.

Lets be honest. We are all in the same mind. This weekend was a disaster performance. But we should remember. It was the first time ever that we saw real race cars with a complete independent steering by Ai. They can be happy that the cars was able to set a lap on the track in their inaugural first presentation even very carefully and with some uncertainly moves and some crashes. We can be sure, that the AI will not replace us in the next years and the technicians will have a lot to do to get success.

What about the Indy Car version of AI racing? Didn't the race in Vegas earlier this year? Better than this?

lol what a shitshow. i tuned in after they shut it all down when one car stopped on track. Then checked in again a bit later & watched them try to start again with 1 less car there were only 4 total cars !(LOL) and then another car just stopped on track. they were SLOW AF, and it was truly a disasterously pointless excercise to LIVESTREAM this "event" What were they thinking?? did NO ONE run a basic "all cars on track" test session or a mock race of a hand ful of laps to see how it all might play out ?

as race fan I'm quite disappointed with how well A2RL went but as a techie I know how hard it is to train ai, build a car that can be driven by that ai and also in real world conditions

Would I watch a full season of AI racing? No, I wouldn't even watch a race of them. Will AI racing takeover driver racing? Absolutely no, the human factor is what makes motorsport. However, I wish AI racing the best of luck because as with everything with advancements in automotives, it all starts on the track. LMP1-Hs paved the way for hybrids technology. FE has been massive for EV advancements. All the R&D that goes into racing eventually finds its way to the consumers. While AI racing will never be as entertaining or as popular as real racing, the technology they are developing is massive for autonomous cars. If within a few months, AI went from generating absolute horrors of pictures to almost photo realistic pictures, I imagine by next year these AI will be a lot better and not locking the brakes on a straight, I hope.

Pointing and laughing is why we can’t have nice things (it is still very funny though) bad PR deincentivises doing this again, and we should have all expected the first run at this to be a shit show. I like to imagine a robot league where average speed is like 1.5x whatever the current f1 cars are managing and I don’t think we get that if everyone dumps all over the first attempt. Also, 2 months is an absurd and unfair window to have to tinker with the car, give them at least a year.

I guess there are better ideas to laundry money, it felt like the race was slowed by 0.5x

AI racing only works if the cars become capable of stuff which humans could never handle. These cars need to get wayyyy faster for this to be interesting

i want to watch drivers not ai and brands i have a similar problem with F1 if the car is good and the driver is somewhat able to drive he will win
